If you're lucky then the cause of your death will be the aging of your body. If you're not so lucky as you think then it will be other cause like lightning but anyway your body will die. Stop poisoning your body, love it, take care of it.

Illusion of choice
I found nice video on ted talks about the problem of choice. The problem i'm always thinking about.
I was born in USSR where the people had no choice (i mean consumer choice) at all. You can be sure that if you come to your neighbour's home, you can find all the things that you have: the same tv, the same frige the same phone and so on. A lot of people tried to differ from each other by searching and buying some unusual things like jeans, food and all the import stuff on a "black market". Time after time my mother went by the bus to Estonia that was more like Europe than the USSR even in soviet times and bought some unusual clothes and food which couldn't be found in a local shops(we lived in a small town near the Saint-Petersburg). Some people brought things from Germany some from Czech Republic.
So, i see two problems here. One is in the absense of choice. In this situation people are spending a lot of time to get all the things they "realy need". The second problem is in overchoice when the people spend a lot of time making a right choice even if it's not a big deal. I think that cause of these two problems not really in "choice" but in a free time that people have and the simplest solution for killing time for the most people is consumption and these "problems" are just the extreme forms of consumption. I think there is no "magic number of choices" that Barry Schwartz talking about. The only solution of happiness is to stop the meaningless consumption and to stop thinking about things which aren't so important. It's better to focus on a people you love.

Zodiac
Some people are really believe in astrology but some people are non believers. Usually when people talking about astrology they talking about Zodiac signs and some characteristics of people born under the given sign. What is the Zodiac sign? Zodiac Circle is an ancient calendar and the sign is just a name of sector in this circle like name of month in our current calendar. So, saying: "I was born under the scorpio sign" is like saying: "I was born eighth of November".
Some time ago i didn't believed that Zodiac signs do have some meaning before i got enough experience and a suitable explanation that was approved after some studying. Then i started to realize that people who born under the same sign are have some similar traits.
I have two explanation of this phenomenon. The first explanation is in simple psychology. When you read about some specific traits of one of zodiac signs you start to search for theese traits not paying attention to another. So you see what you want to see.
The second explanation is in environment conditions at the time of birth, first months of life and what's really matters - the health and condition of a mother. For example, some people were conceived in spring when there was not enough vitamins and mother was tired of winter. Then there was a summer when a lot of sunlight, green grass and fresh vegetables are growing. In autumn, at the last months of pregnancy these mothers are tired because the child is very heavy. When the child is born at autumn there is not enough sunlight and it's cold. But when a child conceiving happens in autumn the last phases of pregnancy falls in spring and summer when there is no fresh fruits yet but there is warm and a lot of light.
So, i think theese conditions can affect a human character for a long term. Astrology tries to explain this phenomenon via the distant stars, planets and some sort of metaphysical bullshit. I suppose it's because people always try to create a system even if there is no system at all. My second explanation, for example :)

Trees growing from the air
Most people are very deluded about trees thinking that trees are getting all nutrition from the ground. But if you remember, wood consists mostly of carbon (~ 49%), oxygen (~ 44%) and hydrogen (~ 6%) and only for 0.3-1.8% of minerals. You can always see theese minerals when your campfire is burn to ashes. Ash contains compounds of phosphor, calcium, kalium, magnium and some other elements.
So, where do the trees are getting the carbon? From the air! Trees are absorbing CO2 from the air water from the ground and growing up. But is the water really comes from the ground? Usual answer is no. Water comes from the clouds with the rain. Look at the tree's roots they growing not too deep but widely near the ground surface to get all the moisture from the rain. There is some tropic orchids that grows on the trees and absorbs moisture directly from the air.
It is the up side down world isn't it?

Brown Sun
Did you ever thought that saying "color" people are usually mean light reflected from the things surrounding them. It is a property of matter to reflect only a part of the falling light and to absorb another parts. For example an orange is reflecting red and green light but absorbing the blue. Red and green light mixing together give us an orange color. But the light itself can have only definite amount of colors. It is the reason why you have never seen a brown star :) Another interesting fact is that yellow color seems more bright than white for us living on Earth revolving around the yellow dwarf. Human eye can percept only a part of a light spectrum. Here on the Earth are a lot of creatures much more sensitive to light and color, it means that their vision of world more colorful and bright than ours.
Sometimes i think that our perception of a colors is very subjective. Actually people without brain and eye diseases can percept colors differently. Normal people say the apple is green not because they experiencing the same feelings looking at the "green" apple. They say "green" because the color they see is called "green" by another people. So it's not about feelings, perception and physics, it's about symbols and systematization.
